Certified Cost Technician (CCT)

9-day training to prepare you for the official international Cost Technician certificate of AACE, The Association for the Advancement of Cost Engineering. You will earn the title Certified Cost Technician (CCT).

Certified Cost Technician (CCT) – mode of study

Option 1: 9-day training taught during 3 building blocks (in-class and live online)
Option 2: In-company training

Certified Cost Technician (CCT) – goal of this training

Certified Cost Technician (CCT)Becoming a Certified Cost Technician (CCT) is challenging. In this 9-day training you will demonstrate proficiency in the basic skills and knowledge of total cost management and you will take the necessary steps to become a Certified Cost Technician (CCT). Moreover, by providing the complete scope of estimating, planning and cost control, the training also gives you a great opportunity towards becoming a successful project manager. The Certified Cost Technician (CCT) training is your first step towards occupying a vital position in a project team and towards a successful career in cost engineering or (technical) project management.

Certified Cost Technician (CCT) – what will you learn?

The aim of each training day is to equip you with practical total cost management skills and knowledge to become a (better) cost engineer.

In this training, you will learn about a.o.:

  • the role of the cost engineer
  • Total Cost Management Framework
  • cost estimating methodologies and classifications
  • statistics, economics and finance
  • planning & scheduling
  • cost control and progress measurement
  • cost engineering fundamentals within project management
  • cost-, quality-, and value management
  • contract management
  • risk management

All theory will be illustrated with many practical examples and case studies.

After attending this training, you will be able to:

  • plan and control resources, costs, profitability, and risk
  • apply an earned value management system to control your projects
  • understand the element of cost and analysis
  • understand types of estimates
  • understand elements of economic and financial analysis
  • do the exam and get your AACE Certified Cost Technician (CCT) certification

Eligibility requirements

To become a Certified Cost Technician (CCT), you must have at least 4 years of industry-related experience, or 4 years of appropriate college-level/academic education. Moreover, you will need to agree to uphold the AACE International Canons of Ethics.

Who should attend?

Becoming a Certified Cost Technician (CCT) is challenging. The 9-day Certified Cost Technician (CCT) training is suitable for everyone who is part of any team that executes industrial projects. The training aimes at graduate engineers (bachelor or master), cost controllers, project engineers, cost estimators, project managers, project cost engineers, discipline leads, members of purchase departments, members of a tendering team, work preparators and all who are involved in technical projects, cost estimation, cost control and planning and contract review in their organization.

Generally, those seeking Certified Cost Technician (CCT) certification represent early-career young professionals who do not yet meet the required years of experience needed to become certified as a Cost Professional (CCP), or experienced mid-to-late career professionals who wish to advance their cost engineering skills.

Certified Cost Technician (CCT) – differences with Certified Cost Professional (CCP)

The AACE International portfolio of certificates includes a Technician (Certified Cost Technician) and a Professional (Certified Cost Professional) level. For the Certified Cost Professional (CCP) certification, 8 years of relevant experience is required. Therefore, the Certified Cost Technician (CCT) certification was established to give less experienced professionals (with 4 years of industry-related experience, or 4 years of appropriate college-level/academic education) the opportunity to advance their cost engineering skills and professional development before being eligible to become CCP certified. Besides this difference, the CCT exam differs from the CCP exam – apart from the contents of the exam, you would need to submit a technical paper before you can enroll for the Certified Cost Professional (CCP) exam. Take a look at the Certified Cost Professional (CCP) credential course to decide which course best suits your needs.

Also interesting!

The following trainings could also be interesting for you and/or your colleagues:

In-company

With at least 5 participants an in-house training could be your best choice. An in-company training, customized to the needs of your organization, has many advantages and:

  • saves you and your colleagues time
  • enables you to train in the comfort of you own working environment
  • saves travel and accommodation expenses
  • can be arranged at a time convenient for you, and
  • sensitive issues can be discussed openly since no outsiders are present

Do you prefer an in-company cost technician training? Please contact us for more information. We are more than happy to discuss the various possibilities with you.
